The App Design Handbook Nathan Barry Pdf
Native apps have access to more of the device’s hardware sensors, such as the camera and microphone. While mobile web apps can access certain sensors, like GPS, accelerometer, and gyroscope, they cannot access the camera or microphone. If you need a business app that uses these sensors, native apps are a better choice. FREE EBOOK The App Design Handbook Getting your application published in the major app stores can often be a complex and frustrating process to carry out. Given the number of restrictions and guidelines set by each store, it is not unusual to see your own app being rejected for unforeseen bugs or design features not compliant with the stores. 'All of this is to say that designers should learn to program, and programmers should learn to design.'
The book is largely for developers who can't design.
After reading Tapworthy, I realize there's a lot less effort in writing this.
Warning: do not clone an existing app as suggested by the book and give it a new name! Even if it has a better interface. That will not work anymore. The Apple store rejects apps that clones popular apps.
It's simple and straight to the point. Which is good.
For me, it all comes down to this: 'Remember that it isn’t about the technology or features of your application, but instead what your app allows a person to do and most importantly how it makes them feel while using it.'
I recommend this book along with the above guide.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to design a great iOS app? The first edition of The App Design Handbook by Nathan Barry was made with iOS 6 in mind, and now the second edition is out, and it’s completely tailored for iOS 7.
Apple Design Award-winner Jeremy Olson has helped Barry update the book this time around and add additional resources, like video interviews with top designers. Written practically and simply, The App Design Handbook is a fantastic resource for novice and experienced app designers alike.
Apple’s radical new design direction in iOS 7 requires app makers everywhere to rethink their approach to iOS design. We’re here to help you make that transition gracefully and with as little pain as possible.
So what do you do? Copy Apple’s apps exactly?
If that’s what you do every app in the store will look white and bland. You probably didn’t think of a generic clone when you dreamed up your app idea.
So how do you design something that matches the iOS 7 design philosophy, but still matches your brand and creates a unique experience?

I think that’s something every designer updating their apps has struggled with. Both Jeremy and I have found approaches that take the best of a rich unique design and combine it with the clarity found in Apple’s iOS 7 guidelines.
The goal of the book is to help you through the process of designing an app from the first idea to applying the final polish and marketing it to the world. There are plenty of high-quality images and illustrations to help along the way.
I haven’t finished reading it yet, but what I’ve read has been great. I am by no means a trained designer, but the book is easy to follow and understand regardless of experience level. It’s the first full-length book about iOS 7 design, and it’s very well done.
The book alone costs $29, but the complete package with 9 video interviews, 9 Photoshop tutorials, and 5 other digital resources costs $200. There’s also a $79 option that includes the book, 5 video interviews, 5 tutorials, and 2 additional design resources. Pricing will go up to $39, $99, and $249 respectively after the first 24 hours of availability.
